At House of Hearing, we produce a range of custom earpieces for many different uses. Whether you need a specific earpiece for media and entertainment work, or just for certain day to day activities, we can help you get an earpiece with the perfect fit for your ear. So, what sort of earpieces do we produce? Amongst the range of earpieces we create, we have some made specifically for TV broadcasters. In any live television broadcast, it’s key for on-air presenters to be able to communicate with the programme’s production team discreetly. We can produce comfortable fitting high quality earpieces, to ensure TV presenters are able to hear everything they need to hear whilst on-air. It’s not just TV presenters we produce earpieces for - we also create in-ear monitors for live musicians. An in-ear monitor allows on stage singers and instrument players to hear a mix of their fellow performers and backing music clearly, so they can perform at their best, something which can be difficult when performing in a loud music venue. We make in-ear monitors in a range of either single or multiple driver configurations. So we’ve talked about the media – singers and TV presenters can all hear everything they need to in their line of work. But what about those who need earpieces in day to day life? An example of this, is those who ride motorcycles. We have motorcyclists well covered with the provision of both hearing protection and custom earpieces. Motorbike riders can travel in a high sound intensity environment, and can be exposed to levels of over 90dB, something which can eventually cause considerable hearing damage. We can fit custom-made ear plugs, which reduces the sound levels and protects your ears from damage. We also have custom earpieces, which don’t just protect the ears, but can also be connected to audio sources such as MP3 players and mobile phones, so you can listen to music clearly whilst riding. We also make custom ear plugs for other day to day activities such as swimming and sleeping. When swimming, your ears are susceptible to infection, and if you suffer from a perforated ear drum, you’re at risk of water ingress. A custom swim plug tackles both of these problems, allowing you to keep your ears safe and comfortable whilst swimming. Custom sleep plugs are also available, helping you get a better night’s sleep by reducing the noise of your surroundings. So, how do we make custom ear pieces and ear plugs? Well, to start the process, you need to attend an appointment at one of our four hearing centres, where your ear canal will be inspected by a member of our expert team. It may be recommended you have an ear wax removal process, such as ear irrigation or microsuction, to rid your ears of excess wax. After this, your ears are injected with a special flexible impression material, which will fully capture your ear canal and outer ear’s shape. Using this impression, we produce an ear piece with a perfect, comfortable fit. The customising of the ear piece doesn’t stop with getting the fit just right – to get a truly bespoke piece of equipment, you can choose to have a range of colours, finishes and branding added to the product.
